Violence forces 675 children to leave their homes

A family had to move 8 times to survive the gangs. Forced migration affects 4 out of every ten minors in the country

A family of 33 members was forced to flee their home by the gangs eight times in the last two years and they did not rest until they were forced to leave the country, at the beginning of 2018, just because there were members of the Armed Forces among them.

This is one of the 675 cases that affect children, adolescents, and youth under 17 years of age who, according to statistics from the National Civil Police, have been victims of gang terror between January 2016 and March 2018, and that the foundation Cristosal has documented.

In 2016 alone, 251 children and adolescents were displaced, and a year later, another 360 youth, while in the first quarter of 2018, they already accounted for 64 cases.

The calvary of one of those families forced to emigrate began in 2016 when they lived in a neighborhood in San Salvador, and after the criminals detected that there were soldiers among them, the gangs began to provoke and threaten them.
