The human rights organization Cristosal reported today that “generalized violence” in El Salvador, carried out mainly by gangs, and the lack of state care have forced at least 675 children and youth to move from their homes to save their lives since 2016.
According to the study “A Generation Without Return,” which presents the cases assisted by Cristosal between 2016 and March 2018, 41.3 percent of this group are children between zero and 11 years of age. Following are youth between 12 and 17 years of age with 38.1 percent, and finally, minors between 12 and 17 years of age with 20.6 percent of the total displaced.
