This is the usual and harsh history of the cases of forced displacement by violence assisted by Cristosal. In El Salvador, a report highlights the increase in internal displacement due to violence carried out mainly by gangs.
In total, 701 victims were assisted, a statistic that is part of the 2017 report on forced displacement, released by this NGO.
Police and military agents also appear as perpetrators. Nevertheless, the government qualifies the phenomenon and prefers to call it “internal mobility.”
Cristosal claims that there could be no less than 100,000 people at risk.
The report also supports the thesis that establishes a relationship between internal displacement and irregular migration, since most of those affected express their desire to flee the country.
