Cristosal’s report identifies among the causes the crime of students, forced displacement, and gangs.
Students had to leave school due to forced displacement in 2017, as recorded by the Cristosal Foundation in the report presented, entitled “Making the invisible visible. Hidden traces of violence.”
The problem, the study details, affected 502 students. However, other causes of dropout are considered, among which fleeing the country stands out, with 7,648 cases; followed by crime, with 3,369. The following cause is the student’s homicide, with 62 cases, and being the victim of a gang, with 640.
All this adds up to the dropout of 12,221 students, which implies 15.9% of children and adolescents whose cause of dropping out from school was insecurity.
