Internal displacement monitoring unit for generalized violence.

It is the unit responsible for the creation and development of a regional mechanism to monitor forced displacement due to widespread violence in the countries of the Northern Triangle of Central America. For this purpose, it will develop the strategies and methodological instruments that allow collecting, storing and processing information on the magnitude and characterization of the phenomenon. In addition, it produces quarterly, annual and special reports on the dynamics, nature and patterns of internal displacement in the region.

The information produced and analyzed in the Monitoring Unit makes it possible to politically influence the governments of the region to assume their responsibility to care for and protect the victims of internal displacement, with special attention to vulnerable groups such as children and women, women head of family, seniors, persons with disabilities, among others. From this Unit we have the conviction that the construction of information is an essential task to increase social awareness of the needs of victims and to locate the phenomenon on the national agenda.
